When you?re far from home during the holiday season, all it takes is a single memory to transport you back to the times when you were with your loved ones. I remember when I was living in Japan and couldn?t come home for Christmas. Even though I couldn?t see my family, keeping our little traditions alive really helped. Baking the same cookies that my grandmother made, opening a gift on Christmas Eve, using ornaments from my tree back home really helped ease the sadness that came along with being so far away. Of course, memory is strongly tied to our sense of smell, and making your home smell like the familiar holiday scents of Christmases past can really help!
