What you Should Know Before Starting your Business Online ...

Starting your Business Online All in good time: Before you invest money in the purchase of office equipment and supplies to start your business online, from home, make sure there is a market for your product or service. There are several stories of entrepreneurs motivated to start an online business, but have a very competitive product (all offer the same product, and then the sale of one of them is difficult for others). Then, spend some time researching the products or services you would like to represent or sell. Remember that an online business will be successful whether or not someone who wants to buy what you are selling.

Dedicate space and time: The idea of working from home, ?in your bathrobe?, is what motivates many idealists to start an online business. Actually, no matter what you can use for your office, but rather, where and when. To succeed, it is important to set aside the common distractions of home, children yelling, etc. Customers do not want to know his personal life but rather want enter into a business relationship. You must show your professionalism protecting the perception the customer has of the company.

Marketing 101: Unlike the screenplay for the movie by Kevin Costner: ?If you build it, they will come?, the customers do not appear. One of the main reasons why online businesses fail is because the owner wants to sell. Before going too far, ask yourself a question: Am I ready to spend my time looking for customers? If your answer is yes, you are ready to move to the next level, otherwise, I would suggest that you review the reasons why he decided to start an Internet business. In addition to the sale, it is important that owners know other ways to sell their products or services. Take time to understand how to use online marketing tools such as social media, email and search engines like Google to help sell their products.

Prepare for the worst: Any new business or enterprise requires a great deal of optimism, but experience teaches us to be prepared in case things do not go as expected. Starting a business online is much cheaper than a traditional business, but also requires an initial investment. Be realistic about the amount of money you have to invest in your business, properly plan and control their marketing costs and thus get better results.

Expect the best: Unlike the above, it is very important to the positive energy and passion that you put into your online business. Another reason why the Internet business from home, can fail is because its founder loses strength. How many of us know someone who started their online business and stayed on the road? You should look for a product or service that you are passionate about. Keep learning new ways to sell and market your product.

Being Healthy Despite the US Health Care System - in Danbury Patch

?

Virtually every hospital has a doctor on staff that is known for practicing bad medicine but his peers don't call him on it. And the body count from medical mistakes made in American hospitals would fill four jumbo jets a week, according to an essay this weekend in the Wall Street Journal by noted surgeon Martin Makary.

Makary is on staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital and previously wrote the groundbreaking book "The Checklist Manifesto," which contained a series of simple guidelines aimed at stopping surgical mistakes and which were later adopted by the World Health Organization. His new book is "Unaccountable: What Hospitals Won't Tell You and How Transparency Can Revolutionize Health Care."

In his essay this weekend in the Journal Makary says there is a "distrubing closed door culture" in American medicine and that doctors in hospitals routinely cover up or ignore the mistakes of colleagues. As often as 40 times a week across the country a surgeon operates on the wrong body part, he writes.?

"Roughly a quarter of all hospitalized patients will be harmed by a medical error of some kind. If medical errors were a disease, they would be the sixth leading cause of death in America?just behind accidents and ahead of Alzheimer's," Makary says in his essay. "The human toll aside, medical errors cost the U.S. health-care system tens of billions a year. Some 20% to 30% of all medications, tests and procedures are unnecessary, according to research done by medical specialists, surveying their own fields. What other industry misses the mark this often?"

The solution he writes, is for health care consumers to become better at checking into the background of their doctors and for the medical community itself to hold each accountable.

In Connecticut there has a been a decline in the number of uninsured people. From 2010 to 2011 the number of people with health insurance rose from 256.6 million to 260.2 million.?

Health & Fitness: Self Improvement

Teens nowadays face a world so much smaller than what generations before them have experienced. Today, you can make a friend from halfway around the world, without even leaving your bedroom.

The culprit: teen social networking.

?How does teen social networking work, and what forms does it take?? is the question many adults nowadays ask themselves. This is due to the belief that if they know their children?s friends, then they might get an insight of what kind of persons their offspring are.

Well, in order to understand teen social networking, you need to understand that teenagers aren?t all the same. Adolescence is the stage when a person first gets an idea about social interaction; it is that stage when they discover what kind of person they are and who they will eventually become.

Teen social networking revolves around these two contradicting but very much true facts: every teen is different, some teens are the same.

This paradox, this contradiction is at the heart of teen social networking. The fact that every teen is different makes teens want to meet other people and to see if they can find someone to relate with.

The fact that some teens are the same, at least in some aspects, encourages teens to bond and form their own little core groups. This can now expand to become a network.

Teen social networking works on the premise that we are all connected. You know him and he knows her and she knows someone else? etc.

The fact that everyone is connected can fascinate people, especially teenagers. The world has certainly gotten small enough that, if you talk to the right people, you can get in touch with anyone in the world.

There is a theory that a person is connected to every other person in the world through no less than six degrees of separation. However, the emergence of technology is rapidly cutting down this ?theory?. No one would actually be surprised nowadays if he or she found out that they are connected to everyone within one degree.

What forms does teen social networking take? Well, there are, of course, the usual manifestations of little cliques or groups in school. These core groups often form a teen?s first real network. Through the years, this network often expands, ever growing stronger with each additional member.

There are also the different clubs that a teen joins. These clubs are a type of teen social networking in the sense that they let teenagers meet people with the same interests as theirs.

Lately, of course, we have seen the emergence of chat rooms and the ever-popular Friendster and MySpace. These incorporate the use of the technology of internet into interacting socially with other people.

This makes teen social networking especially interesting since they have the opportunity to meet people whose locations are very far from them. This introduces teenagers to whole new worlds where the rules and norms they are used to do not apply.

This then leads them to the belief that what they do does affect other people and that, no matter how different, people should be respected, in order for them to respect you.

As with other good things, however, too much social networking can be bad. And, as always, moderation is the key to a successful social network.

Elder Care: What Does Long Term Care Insurance Cover?

Long-term care insurance is an important aspect of future planning for many families. In fact, it is advised that individuals who believe their loved ones may need long-term care seek out a plan that fits their senior?s anticipated needs. Long-term care, including home care, is a medical necessity for which some families struggle to pay. By planning ahead and taking out a long-term care policy, you can protect your elderly loved one and the rest of your family against the financial complications that such care can create.

While long-term care is certainly recommended by elder care professionals, it is important that you and your family understand exactly what the policy will cover. Because each policy varies, it is important to speak with your senior?s insurance professional to understand precisely what expenses will be covered or reimbursed; however, here are some basic facts regarding the services that a long-term care plan may cover.

  • The purpose of long-term care policies is to cover daily needs that are not met by health insurance, including Medicare or Medicaid. For this reason, the policy is most likely to pertain to assistance with activities of daily living, including grooming, personal hygiene, dressing, eating, etc.
  • Some medical conditions, such as Alzheimer?s disease and other forms of dementia, often require the supervision of a senior care professional; however, these services are not always covered by health insurance despite the fact that they are necessitated by a medical condition. Long-term care policies frequently cover such supervision, allowing elderly individuals to continue aging in place despite Alzheimer?s disease or other illnesses.
  • A long-term care policy may also cover skilled services, such as the treatment provided by physical, respiratory, and speech therapists.
If your family is unsure whether or not to invest in long-term care insurance for your elderly loved one, it is important to take the opportunity to consider the future needs of your senior. Additionally, it is recommended that you consult with an insurance professional to determine if a long-term care policy is the right move for your family. While no one knows exactly what the future holds, an insurance policy can help protect you and your loved ones against the unexpected expenses that may arise as your senior ages.

African Union calls for "comprehensive" deal between Sudan and S. Sudan

September 23, 2012 (JUBA) The African Union Commission and the United
Nations on Saturday said both Sudan and South Sudan needed to reach a
comprehensive deal, as their leaders meet on Sunday, to resolve all
outstanding issues in post-session relation between the two.

South Sudan President, Salva Kiir and his Sudanese counterpart, Omar
al Bashir are due to meet on Sunday in the Ethiopian capital Addis
Ababa at a summit that seeks to wrap up talks on a series of
outstanding matters.

Jean Ping, the AU Commission chairperson, in a statement, encourages
both presidents to take advantage of this unique opportunity to reach
agreement on the outstanding issues in the post secession relations
between their two countries.

The AU, over the years, has maintained an intense and sustained
engagement with Sudanese stakeholders and people. In October 2009, the
Peace and Security Council (PSC) established the AU High?Level
Implementation Panel (AUHIP), chaired by former President Thabo Mbeki
and including former Presidents Abdulsalami Abubakar and Pierre
Buyoya.

?This has represented an unprecedented degree of African engagement
and assistance at the highest level,? Ping notes in the statement.

The AU, he said, has always recognized that the crisis affecting Sudan
and South Sudan is an ?African crisis?, and the continent has an
obligation to assist the two states achieve a lasting solution.

Ping, however, noted that throughout its engagement, the AU, notably
through the AUHIP, has maintained the view that solutions to the
challenges at hand lie with the Sudanese people themselves.

The AU, in the aftermath of intense border fighting between the two
countries, issues a strong communiqu? and roadmap in April, which
enabled the two parties to return to the negotiating table and
overcome the challenges facing their relationship.

?As the deadline specified by the PSC Roadmap and endorsed by United
Nations Security Council resolution 2046 (2012) approaches, the AU is
fully aware that difficult decisions must be made by both sides to
finalise negotiations on their post secession relations,? Ping?s
statement reads in part.

The AU, its commission chairperson added, calls for a strong sense of
national leadership, saying decisions made on issues of profound
significance to citizens and governments are undoubtedly difficult and
can involve ?painful? choices.

He however said the AU, recognizing the value of long?term imperative of building two viable states and maintaining the close relationships between the peoples of Sudan and South Sudan, remains confident that the leaders will ?rise to the occasion and leave a legacy of peace for generations to come.?

Meanwhile, Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary-General said he was encouraged by the significant narrowing of differences between the Governments of Sudan and South Sudan on a range of outstanding issues and strongly urges them to conclude a comprehensive deal during the Presidential summit in Addis Ababa on 23 September.

Ki-Moon, in a statement issued on the eve of today?s summit, also congratulated the negotiating teams of the two parties for what they have achieved so far, but urged presidents of the two countries to take responsibility for the resolution of their remaining differences, so that their summit concludes with a success.

The commitment, he said, will ?mark an end to the era of conflict and ushers in a new era of peace, cooperation and mutual development for the two countries and their people.?

The UN Secretary General also the AUHIP for its continued able leadership in facilitating and mediating the talks between the two parties, and thanked the special envoy for his support to that effort.
