Redding Recreation: Last week for skateboarding camp ? DT Fine Art

SKATEBOARD CAMP

This week is the last opportunity to get in on Brian Harris awesome skateboarding camp. This is a great starter course to get your skater ripping the areas skate parks ? riding the transitions, grinding the rails or just cruising the flatland. Participants will learn proper foot-placement and stance; how to turn and push the board while maneuvering through obstacles; and much more. The camp will run Tuesday through Friday at the Redding Skate Park from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm

SNAG GOLF CAMP

Coach Todd Johnson will lead the second of two SNAG (Starting New at Golf) Camps at the Juniper School Gym July 17 through 19. SNAG is all about having fun while learning the basics of golf (putting, chipping, pitching and driving). It incorporates developmentally appropriate equipment that allows golf to be learned and played in non-traditional venues like on soccer field and in gyms with immediate, positive results. This immediate success keeps new learners wanting to be further involved with golf. The session for 5- to 9-year olds will be from 8:30 to 10 am, and the session for 10- to 15-year-olds will be held from 10:30 am to noon.

COLT .45S BASEBALL CAMP

The second installment of the Colt .45s Baseball Camp will be held Tuesday through Friday at Tiger Field from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm This weeks camp is for participants 11 to 18. Campers will be exposed to all areas of the game by the Colt .45s players and coaches. The players are from elite college baseball programs around the country. They will share their experience, skills, knowledge and work ethic that has gotten them to this elite level. This will be conveyed from the perspective that the game should be fun. The more you understand the game, the more fun it becomes. Campers receive a Colt .45s hat, T-shirt, Oakland As tickets, a Colt .45s youth season pass and a strip of 10 adult game tickets.

FAMILY/GROUP-GUIDED RAFTING TRIPS

Gather your friends and family to enjoy a relaxing trip down

the Sacramento River, beginning at the Sundial Bridge and ending at the Anderson River Park. Two guided trips will be offered this summer ? June 28 and Aug. 18. The journey takes about four hours, so be sure to bring plenty of water and sun screen, along with a towel, hat and T-shirt. Bring your water cannons as this will be a fun, wet ride. North Country Raft Rentals bus will shuttle participants back to Riverfront Park.

KIDS SAILING CAMP

This course is designed to give boys and girls 8 and older the general knowledge of sailing through study and hands-on sailing experience. Students will learn sailing technology, terms of sailing, boating safety, and the basics of sailing. Students will learn and demonstrate how to sail a small boat safely and effectively. A parent or guardian must accompany their children attending their respective classes. Classes will be held at the Brandy Creek Marina at Whiskeytown Lake from noon to 5 pm The first of four classes will be held Monday through Friday. Classes will also be held July 16 through 20, July 30 through Aug. 3, and Aug. 6 through 10.

SUP YOGALATES

Enjoy a yoga and Pilates class on the water. The classes are held from 11 am to non Saturdays. The Stand-up Paddleboard Yogalates class will give you a great workout, under the blue sky, in the cool of the pool, and with other like-minded people. Join us at the Redding Aquatic Center.

HIGH SCHOOL FLAG FOOTBALL

Start training now for the second installment of The City Flag Football League. This league is only for high school boys and girls. Games will be at Caldwell soccer field. It will be governed by recreation and NFL flag football rules. Registration as a team is encouraged and open until teams are filled. Need a team? We will find one for you. Submit your team name and color ASAP. Practices begin Sept. 17 and games begin Sept. 29.

JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL CAMP

Only one more Junior Volleyball Summer Day Camp will take place this summer. The camp will be held from 9 am to noon July 28 in the Juniper School Gym. Basic volleyball skills will be introduced during the non-competitive, structured, fun environment, providing a strong foundation for aspiring volleyball players. They will learn the fundamentals of bumping, setting, and hitting, as well as court awareness and ready position.

SUMMER PICKLEBALL

Join the group of adults and partake in some fun and fitness, at 8 am Monday through at the South City Park Tennis Courts.

CAMP X ? COMING WEEKS

Sign-ups are on now for this summers edition of the popular Camp X sports camp. Week 6: Football Week will be held Monday through Thursday at the Caldwell Soccer Field. This week will feature a variety of drills and games to go along with a mini-combine, PPK and more. Campers will learn a lot of important fundamental techniques. Week 7: Great Outdoors Week II (full-day only), will feature kayaking, biking, hiking, river rafting down the Sacramento River and much more. Each afternoon will be spent at the Redding Aquatic Center. Sign up soon, spots fill up fast. Camp X offers full-day, half-day with lunch, and half-day options available for campers.

SUPER SUMMER SCORCHER

Join in on this 3-on-3 basketball league for high school boys and girls. Games will be played on Mondays at the Caldwell Park basketball court from 7 to 9 pm, beginning July 23. Friday is the registration deadline, so sign up quickly.

DISC GOLF

High school boys and girls, come learn the disc golf as you have never known it. A local disc golf pro will teach form, technique and game strategy so you can master the game. There will be two days of instruction focusing on customizing your game to expand your horizons. There will be four Tuesdays of competition ? each week will be held at a different course. It all swings into action on July 16 at 7 pm at Enterprise Community Park.

LITTLE BOUNCE HOOP CAMP

Coach Miles Davis returns for this summers installment of his Little Bounce Hoop Camp. This camp continues to grow in popularity, so sign up early to guarantee a spot. This two-day camp is designed for the boys and girls from 4 to 7 who are not old enough for our other basketball camps, have no or limited experience in an organized sports setting, but are enthusiastic about basketball. Basic fundamentals will be taught along with a variety of fun games and competitions. The camp will be held at the Juniper School Gym on July 23 and 24 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
