Business Press Releases: 5 Ways They Helped One Entrepreneur Grow Exposure

Posted on 13. Nov, 2012 by Christine OKelly in Press Release Writing Tips

If you?re a business owner you, know that one of the best feelings is hearing how your services helped someone else to achieve their goals. Tara and I were thrilled when Kevin, a client of 2 years, wrote in with his experience using our site ? and provided ?tried and true,? ?lived and learned? tips to help other?entrepreneurs?gain more authority, visibility, and clout using online press release distribution.

Take it away Kevin!

I started using online press releases for my websites roughly 2 years ago, and I absolutely love the exposure you can get for your site with them. Below I am going to give you 5 good reasons that you should be submitting press releases often for your business or website at Online PR Media. Make sure you read to the end because I?ve got some bonus tips as well.

#1: PR Helps You Gain Authority

When people are searching for your website or business name and come across articles in the search engines about your business from media outlets, such as ?onlineprmedia.com?, it is going to help your business name become more of an authority. You will see many websites and products use the ?as seen on? logos with mentions of highly recognized media outlets such as ABC, ESPN, or New York Times for example. This is to create that image of authority for the site or product. The same effect can happen when people notice mentions of your business on websites and in press releases.

#2: Online Press Releases Help Your Website Rank

You may or may not know much about search engine optimization (SEO), but it is basically helping your website get rankings in search engines allowing people to find your site when searching for various terms. For example, if you own an auto mechanic shop in Pittsburgh you would want your website to show up in the results when people search for ?Pittsburgh Auto Repair?. SEO is what helps you rank for terms related to your business or product. One of the main ways to improve your search engine rankings is by getting exposure and links from other websites. Creating a press release about your business at Online PR Media will allow you to get multiple links to your website. Because their website is a trusted and authority website this will help your own SEO efforts and your website may get a boost in the search engines.

#3: Other News Sources Pick Up Your Press Release

When I?ve created press releases in the past at OnlinePRNews.com I?ve had a lot of them being picked up by many other sources and websites. This creates multiple articles in the web about your product or business, and even helps with your SEO further. Exposure for your business will go up and often time website traffic will follow (which is of course often followed up by profits).

#4: Helps Gain Visibility With Local Search Phrases

Did you know that the more mentions of your business and your business address on the Internet the more likely your website is to pop up on local searches? These days search engines are smart and they know what city the user is searching from. They use that data to help create local results, and the search engines often recommend local businesses at the top of the results (often with a map included as well). The more times your website, business, and address are mentioned on websites the more it helps your business showing up in local search results.

#5: Your Press Release Might Rank Itself

Another upside for writing press releases is that they might actually get some love from the search engines and rank for keywords you are trying to get your business ranking for. One my press releases that is over a year old continues to drive lots of traffic to my website and help make me money because the actual press release ranks in Google for a high traffic keyword. Let me give you another example. I opened up my own Pizza shop in London, Ontario where I?m from. I write a press release and title it ?Kevin opens Pizza Place in North London.? A few weeks later my press release is actually near the top of the search results for anyone searching for terms such as ?North London pizza.? They visit the press release and see your address listed on the right side of the page, and also have the option about reading more about your business and your story.

Other Tips:

When you are creating a press release at Online PR Media make sure you take advantage of the great options they offer you. They allow you to link back to your own website multiple times, which is must for many of the reasons talked about above. They also allow you to link to your own social media accounts (Twitter and Facebook). Take advantage of that and allow potential customers connect with you via social media. And lastly be sure to include an iframe link to your website so that it will show up beneath your press release, sending even more traffic and potential customers to your business. Lastly, after your press release is live go ahead and link to it, tweet it, or link to it in your Facebook status. The more eyes on your press release the better.
