EYE FLU OR CONJUNCTIVITIS

Eye flu or Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eyes, is caused due to over straining of eyes or may be because of infection due to bacteria or virus. When attacked with eye flu, your eyes?will turn pink and that is why it is called pink eyes. It causes lot of soreness and irritation?in your eyes.

Though it is curable, it is very contagious. In this article, you are going to learn about?symptoms and home treatment for Eye flu or Conjunctivitis.

SYMPTOMS OF EYE FLU OR CONJUNCTIVITIS:

  • Itchiness, swelling and reddishness of the eye
  • Formation of a crust around the infected eye
  • A white discharge if it is due to allergy or viral infection
  • Unable to tolerate bright light

HOME TREATMENT FOR EYE FLU OR CONJUNCTIVITIS:

ICE PACK:

Soak a well cleaned cloth in cold water. Remove the excess water from the cloth and put it on?your eyes. Continue doing this for some time every now and then.

MILK AND HONEY:

Take warm milk and honey in equal quantities and mix them well. Wipe your eyes with this?mixture using a cotton ball or an eye cup. You can use this mixture as eye drops as well or as?a compress for treating eye flu.

CORIANDER:??

Boil a handful of fresh and dried coriander leaves in water. Strain the water and let it cool.?Now wash your eyes with this coriander water. It reduces the pain, burning sensation and?swelling caused due to eye flu.

FENNEL SEEDS:??

Boil a handful of fennels seeds in water and let it cool for a while. Now strain the liquid from?the mixture and wash your infected eyes with this liquid twice a day. This works the same?way as coriander water does.

POTATO:???

Slice a raw potato and keep it on the infected eye for a while. Use it for 3 consecutive nights,?and you will be amazed with the results.

TURMERIC:??

Pour two tea spoons of turmeric powder into a cup of boiling water. Now use this water like a?hot compress on your infected eyes.

GOOSEBERRY:??

Mix one cup of gooseberry juice with two tea spoons of honey and now drink this mixture?twice a day.

LEMON JUICE:???

Lemon juice works very effectively on pink eyes. Take a few drops of lemon juice into your?palm and apply this to the outer side of the infected eye using your finger. Though the lemon?juice gives a stinging feel for a few minutes, it helps in oozing out the pus.

YOGURT:??

Yogurt as well works very effectively on pink eyes. Just apply it on the outer edge of the?infected eye and leave it for few minutes.

SALT:???

Pour some salt into boiling water and let it become cool till it is bit warm. Now dip a cotton?ball into the mixture and place it on your eyes and let it be there for some time. This is the?easiest remedy to follow, yet very effective to treat eye flu at home.
