Several thousand area students have joined Gerry Willemse on ski trips to various snowy spots in the past 42 years. This years? events are planned for Mt. Holly and Killington, Vt.

HEIGHTS?The Dearborn Heights Recreation Department is continuing to offer Ski & Snowboard Club trips for 6th through 12th grades this coming winter season. The first trip will be on Friday, December 28th, a day trip to Mt. Holly.

This will be the 42nd year that Gerry Willemse will plan and direct this winter?s sports activity. He estimates that, to date; several thousand students have participated in the program.

Skiing and snowboarding can be lifelong activities and many former students have continued to remain with the club to help teach other students to enjoy the sport as much as they do.

A special three-day, three-night trip has been planned for Killington, Vt. the first weekend in March, 2013. Students 8th through 12th grades are eligible for this late season trip.

Informational brochures will be sent to area schools in the near future. For further information call the Dearborn Heights Parks and Recreation Department at (313) 791-3600 Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
